4-5 day old kitten *PICS

The other day I found an abandoned kitten, eyes still shut. I'm feeding it goat milk formula (what they had), wipe it's butt, and keep it warm. All I really want to know is signs of it being happy. It sleeps a lot, I feed it every 2-3hrs, and even have a stuffed animal in with it, any hints or tips?

Having raised bottle babies before, I can tell you that you've got a lot of work ahead of you. Call your local vet, they almost always have kitten formula. As for signs of happiness, if she poops when you wipe her tummy with a warm wet rag, and she's vocal if you're late with the feeding, you're doing fine. If you're really worried, put a heating pad on low and a ticking clock in with her when she's not being fed. That'll make her feel like someone is with her when you're not there. And prepare for the sweetest cat you will ever own. Bottle babies are a breed apart. :)

Raptorturtle gave some good advice. Having only read about bottle feeding, I am clueless. However, I just wanted to wish you luck and it's so nice of you to rescue the baby!

Thank you so much! She's such a sweetheart love.gif and has already got my heart. It is a lot of work, but it will definitely be worth it smile.png In a month when she starts playing, were going to the humane society to get a playmate for her since shes the only one. Its going to be a long, but fun journey! Today after feeding her, she started purring, and it was just the most adorable thing (until I had to wipe her bottom and she started to squeal)! Thanks for the help, i'll keep you posted!

That's a great idea! But, if you do go to the shelter, be prepared to have the new kitty bring home a cold. Take them both to the vet within a week of bringing the new baby home. Both my current rescue kitties came home with colds (which meant 2 trips to the vet, since I adopted them at different times). And get them vaccinated and fixed ASAP. :D

Awwwww!!!! love.gif

A friend told me I was delusional. I almost fell off my unicorn.

I smile because I have no idea what's going on.  :D

When life gives you lemons, turn around and squeeze 'em back in life's eyes.

My room is not messy, I simply have everything on display for everyone to see. Like a museum.

Well shes just about doubled in size! Awfully cute! still no signs of eyes opening, but it should be any day, just about a week old!! She's used to us, and LOVES laying in our hands and having her belly rubbed while she purrrs. love.gifHere's a picture of her today enjoying the fresh air right after her belly has been rubbed-
