Odd mix ducks, by accident - Page 8

May i suggest a Rouen if your looking for colourful? i have two Rouens and let me tell you they are the most loving pets. easy to care for and easy to train. its a dream package.

Technically, the chickens still aren't ours. But they do prefer to be on our property, rather than the property where they originated. It's that whole knowing they won't get chased, caught, beaten, eaten, or otherwise molested thing. I can't really blame them, honestly. There's always food (albeit bugs), and fresh water. Can't say that about their actual "home". They are as close to feral as a human bred chicken can be.

I'll try to get a picture of the hen that likes to ride Princess. She has a group of somewhat young chicks at the moment, so it might take me a bit. She won't jump up on them when she has babies. Oddly enough, it is usually Princess I see them on. I don't know if they just don't like the others, or the others make them get off. The chickens will come out and eat with the horses after we feed their hay, but they won't get close if we are in the pasture.

Thank you, Sasa! I love my horses, and it's taken me years to get my herd to where it is now. I'm currently revamping a bit, and looking to get a new stallion. We are so excited about adding ducks and chickens to our family. I can't wait to get started, but I know I don't know enough yet. I would hate to have something happen that is preventable, or I don't know something, and have something happen to my birds. I intend our animals to be pets, as well as working members of our farm. It is important to me that I have a good knowledge base before we get our first birds.

I just know about the silver ones which come from 2 blue parents. They where little surprises to me loll And yes I love them!! I can sit there all day and watch them if it wasnt for my boyfriend getting bored LOL!!
