I ended up with some really interesting colored chicks and I’m excited to see what they look like when they are older.

I’ll also say that if you were to breed your Smooth boy with your frizzled barbed feathered (porky pine looking girl) you will get the highest percentage of frizzled barbed feathered chicks.

Thanks.

HMM my little crower Dweezle is just full of surprises!!

tonight I just saw him climb the tree in his pen and get on top of the 7' enclosure next to his!

Him, his cohort "and constant companion" Jay jay the polish and the silkies are all in this one until I get the tops completed thinking that the sizzle and silkies can not fly that far up.

Jay jay flew up "no big surprise" but when Dweezle climbed up the tree flapping all the way I about fell over!!

Well they are not great flyers but i guess those extra toes make them good climbers LOL

looks like I need to get that pen topped sooner than planned, I don't want to put them with the Spanish or laying hens so back to work on the pens again!

Just had a sizzle chick hatch, skin is nice and black, has all 10 toes! yesss.gif

I hope it is smooth, and a female, so I can breed it back to her father! big_smile.png

That is too funny.  My little Bantum "Broke Beak" can fly really quite far...I was surprised.  In fact he will fly up to my arm and perch there especially if I am holding his comrade "Darkness".

So how long does it take to figure out the sex on them, I thought I had two male's and one female now that they are older Im wondering. Does anyone have pictures of the two so Ican see. Oh I have sizzle they are so cute and my husband said oh they are cute so Im going to keep them and see what I have and who to put them with. Two are black on Im sure male ( he has his huge comb) is black with gold tipped feathers but only a few than I have a paint that I was thinking is a roo but not comb like the other one than one more that is back that has the same comb as the paint but its not as big of a bird. Should I try and just get pictures and see what you all tell me?

Hi, I have French Black Copper Marans (love them), English Orpingtons :(colors Blue, Balck and Splash) they are so sweet. Oh also Cream Legbars :that lay nice blue eggs. We will be offering eggs and chicks from all of them just PM me to get on the list for which one youd like. We also have a few sweet Dairy goats ( Nubians and Toggs)

I am guessing that I have a pair with my two frizzled chicks that are 5 weeks old. I could tell a difference in comb colour a week ago.

Here is the one I believe to be a boy that was 4 weeks old at the time of the picture.

I sure hope this one is female, but it does have a lot less pink (she has an pale peach coloured comb).

She is part of the sizzle project I'm working on. Her father was a sizzle, mother was a buff laced polish. I thought that polish would be better to work with. They have nice crests, so why not? These will have to be sized down, because the hen is standard. Work for sure, but I'm up for a challenge!
