Should I assist or no? - Page 2

Well let me toot my little whistle here........Just sent my 2nd crop from a 240-egg-setting of GG's to the brooder with a pretty good hatch from both, and if there's some stuck chicks in there when I gather the dried-and-ready-to-go chicks, I'll take two tweezes and perform an immediate undress on those chicks in a heartbeat.  Be quick.......move quick........remember, if you're like me, there's some that haven't popped open yet......so don't spend time creating the same problem you're trying to resolve and let the humidity go flat.   Yep, they may have curled-feet, but there's a good chance that will go away............not always, but a good chance.  I have five 3-day old chicks in the brooder right now they are probably thankful for those tweezers.  I can't pick them out from the rest of the fuzzy butts.  Don't get me wrong, it's not always a happy ending for each resuce, but......... discarding you don't jeapordize any yet-to-hatch chicks, what have you got to lose?  You'd try to save a child in a burning house, wouldn't you??

Howdy, Bill.  Long time no chat.  Glad to see all you ol' pro quailers still around.  I didn't mean to sound like someone with a lot of authroity in the post about saving the shrink-wrapped.  I know it's a very touchy subject, and everyone is indeed entitled to their opinions and beliefs.  I tend to get over-opinionated sometimes, and it may come across to some as being Mr. Smarty Britches, but my opinion(s) is based mainly on what I've had work for me, and more times that not, multiple times.  I just can't stand seeing/hearing those little boogers peepin' and strugglin' trying to reach thier due destiny.  It's just that when I read "don't intervene", my mind says "at least give it a shot if it doesn't jeapordize others.......ya neva' know"!!  Like I said, I've got 5 amongst a pile of lil' bobs that's were thinkin' "life's good" this mornin' when I left for work....yippiechickie.gif

I agree man, I have several chicks right now that are proof rescuing works, if you saw them you would never know that they could have been thrown out with the bad eggs, they are happy and healthy little chicks

Now Randall, You have raised more bobs than most folks I know... Saved a truck load of chicks and nearly invented the monster quail pen on wire... I figure I'll listen up when you got somethin to say!

I went look'n for the pix you posted a year or better ago of the fine big bator you built. I built me a cabinet unit based off JJ's plans and used the Ranco digital controller you used....Never did find the pix of your bator. Was want'n to see where you mounted the sensor probe and how many turners. Mine came ut really well but plan a mod or two after the pens are full.... Is that pic still around or was it lost with the site over haul? Bill
