What incubator do you use? Have you searched out the thread devoted to that model? ALl of them have their quirks, and some have mroe quirks than others! LOL

I use an LG and when I have room I am able to use qt size jars of water to mitigate the ups and downs of temps. My own personal Henny penny that I made has 10 quarts of water as a heat sink. Need to get the temp set BEFORE putting in jars of warm water. ANd then get t his balanced before setting eggs.

Hope you will try again. Can you get local eggs, unshipped eggs to work with?

thanks , the incubator is a LG also i think ( came from Rual King) and i have a turner , 1st hatch was 16 chicks and 6 guineas 50% + hatch rate. just the temps went wild for like 3 days and it cleared up and did ok   after the spikes.  Yes i have my uncle that has chickens and i put eggs from him in the bator  so it don't really cost  me any money except for gas. Also will be getting like  9 hens  from a friend  that replacing some of hers. (slow layers) with a rooster.

Good Morning Everyone!!!  I hope everyone had a blessed Father's Day.

I currently have 4 in the brooder and two more eggs in the cooker.  One has pipped, the other is just sitting there, but I can hear chirping...so they are just taking their sweet sweet time.  :)

Of the 4 in the brooder, last night I thought I had 4 girls, but I found a website that shows how the boys can look and I am certain I have at least one roo...which I needed, so that makes me happy!  I am pleased overall.  I am going to go take pictures now...I will post them soon.

Today is a gift that is why it is called the Present.

CHeck out the LG threads, there is an old one and a newer one, both highly recommended. All LG users lurk there.

My one pip must have multiplied last night as I slept because I woke up this morning and found 7 more pips.. Looks like this hatch is going to be much better than the last. I just can't what to see all the little babies :) Wish I didn't have to work today, but hopefully I won't miss too much of it..
