my favorite time of day is in the evening when i can let them out of the run for awhile.  they run between the dogs' legs chasing frogs & are in a mad scurry to make sure nobody gets something they might want.  they and the cat have a stand-off with the chickens usually winning.  when it's time to go to bed the little ones march into the coop like little soldiers.  then the fight begins.  they yell, scream, push, shove, scramble to make sure they have the perfect spot for sleeping - all piled in the corner on the floor.  the big girls aren't much better.  they're up on the roost & they're yelling, arguing, stepping on each other and pushing each other off the roost until they have their spot situated.  then quiet decends.  there's the soft little voices for a little bit, then silence.

it makes me laugh & grin every time.  what a bunch of little monsters. lol

Completely agree with this thread...I got chickens for the eggs and am keeping them for the entertainment.  I'm in love!  And these just hatched today from my own eggs under a broody hen!

Yes Indeed, I have lost my only child (43) and my chickens are the absolute best therapy.  I love having them, I had them by my garden last year and I enjoyed them so much, also added a chair for chicken watching. I have spent quite a bit on my chickens, and am moving and it will take some to get them set up the way I would really like, but hopefully it will all work out and I can continue to enjoy. Chickens are the best.  I hope that I can keep my roo. He's so beautiful and I have wanted him for so long.

Panth- What a beautiful, fuzzy little baby- how precious!  And Jean, so very sorry about the loss of your only child.   hugs.gif  I'm happy to hear that your chickens are therapy for you, and make you happy.  I know our chickens have brought our family closer.  Who would have thought!

Panth thank you for sharing your beautiful little baby. it is super cute.

Jeancordelia- I'm so sorry for your loss. I too lost a child eleven years ago and it was the toughest thing I've ever had to go through. I can agree that chickens are great therapy. It has been a true blessing to have them in my life.
