#1 chick...what color? #2 chick...what breed? - Page 2

Anyone know what color #1 is???? Is it always going to appear so messy???

I can go with an EE, I didn't know they could be so white/gray/buff in color. You can see some pale gray lines crossing over the white in a few places near the base of the wing. Also, there is that blackish colr you can see between the feathers. So...what color would you call this? "Minnesota Mixed-Up Kid"???

Different pics than before:

And this long-necked, long-legged chick with dark gold legs...I wouldn't call them slate and certainly not green. It does look like someone fingerprinted the tops of its feet and legs so only the ridges of skin are dark and the valleys are still gold.

BTW,,,when I got this chick...it had 2 little scabs at the top of each wing. I figured that was where others had maybe pecked it. The scabs are now gone, When any of the other chicks start hopping around together (I assume this is determining dominance behavior in chickens?) it runs to join in and the greatest % of the time, it is the one that starts it.

Any ideas??brn.JPGbrown3.JPGbrown legs.JPGbrown.JPG

These pics are still from my older bunch of pictures, but I think they may show a bit more. I will take some new photos when I get back home next week. They will be about 5-6 wks old then.

Go here for the EE sexing tips and tricks - Illa will tell you what colour to call it. No it won't always look that messy. Mine looked like that from 2 - week 8 or so. My boy looked it a bit longer. All chicks go through a stage where they have bad hair days.

Hope someone can help you out with #2 - but #1 is an EE.

#2 does look like it might be a Partridge Plymouth Rock, though rare to get one of those from a hatchery, they are somewhat rare birds but the markings make me think it might just be one.

Could be! smile.png Very gawky chick though. The legs are super long! I have a couple of Barred Plymouth Rock mixes that have long legs like that.
