Easter Eggers-What breeds do YOU prefer to cross your Ameraucanas with?

I have only Blue Ameraucana roos over all my hens. So almost all of mine will be EE's or OE's. For hens I have White Leghorns, Brown Leghorns, Red Sex Links, Black Sexlink, Blue English Orpingtons, Welsumers, Golden Laced Wyandotte, Silver Laced Wyandottes, Blue Marans, Columbian Wyandotte, Buff Orpingtons, Barred Rocks, Columbian Rocks, Partridge Rocks, Lav. Ameraucana, and Black Ameraucanas. I hatched some eggs a few weeks ago resulting in a total of 9 chicks. Two are blue, 4 are black, and 3 are yellow. I did not seperate the eggs so I don't really know who came from who. I hatched them for a family member that wanted as much of a combination as possible. But I now have more eggs set in the incubators, and seperated so that I can kinda get an idea of who is who and what they will look like. Its a lot of fun, and I love the colored eggs. I am excited to see what these chicks will grow out to look like, and the egg colors they produce.

Oh, how cool that I stumbled on this thread (tee hee hee, new genetic info to play with) LOL

If anyone can answer my questions, that would be awesome:

(1) I have a first generation cross between a blue Ameraucana and a Blue Splash Marans. The pullet is blue splash in color. If I cross her with my Wheaten Ameraucana, what feather colors can I expect from the chicks. Am I correct in assuming half the eggs should be blue and the other half olive?

(2) two of my pullets from the blue Ameraucana x Blue Splash Marans cross look very different.... why? The first one has a lot of well defined splash markings throughout it's whole body while the other one has a sort of light gray dusty look with a few blue splash markings. The second one also has a light blue head.

(3) Wheaten Ameraucana x white leghorn = 100% light blue eggs? Also, the resulting birds will be mostly white with red leakage, right?

(4) Wheaten Ameraucana x Welsummer = green spotted eggs? what color birds might I get from that cross?

(5) super blue eggs???? please explain.

Thanks! :D

Any ideas?

I just bought a pair of true Ameraucanas last month that I'm very excited about. I've hatched a couple of chicks and hope that they do well, so I can sell some of those chicks later on.

Right now, I'm getting a lot of requests for Easter Egger chicks. I have some adult hens already that I've used, but have no idea what crosses were used to produce them since they were from a hatchery.
I would like to create some crosses of my own and would really like to see what the chicks may grow up to look like using certain purebred hens.

The hens that I have are:
Buff Orpington
Blue Andalusian
Blue Marans (this cross would produce an olive egger, right?)
Speckled Sussex
Barred Rock

Also, has anyone used a certain breed to achieve beardless Easter Eggers? I bought a beardless EE last month that lays a green egg and I believe she was from a Ameraucana hen and a Jungle Fowl X roo. She is beautiful, but I don't have a Jungle Fowl roo to create more like her.

If anyone can help me out with photos, I would really appreciate it! If you post any, please be sure to post what the parents were too.

THANKS!

I have a black Ameraucana rooster and a Cochin hen that made great looking EE's with some size

I am interested in crossing colored leghorn Roos on Americans hens or Easter Egger hens. I hope this would enhance the colors of the eggshells and boost productivity. Anybody ever try this, or read about in as far as genetics??

I have a question for those of you that breed your Ameraucanas. I have two Lavender Ameraucanas... 1 pullet, 1 rooster. I have several heavy breeds I can cross with. The goal would be to maintain a blue or green colored egg, while adding some size. I have done the Chicken Calculator, and most every color or pattern I put in gives me black pullets. I like color and patterns in my Easter Eggers, and have several black, so would prefer not to have too many more.
Does anyone have pictures or experience crossing with lavender and getting anything but solid black? My young rooster "Hop Along Val Kilmer" is a keeper, so would like to figure this out.
Thanks!

I have no time to read all the pages so I'll just post my own question :p ... So when it comes to making "Easter Eggers", should we be using blue-gene hens with a brown-gene rooster or the other way around? I'm planning on getting an Ameraucana rooster (hopefully pure as they claim) and possibly breeding with buff and white Orpingtons. Maybe Faverolles, too. They are supposed to be PURE breed which I reeeally hope they are so I know what to expect and no 'surprise genes'.

Would this cross produce all green-laying offspring? half brown layers and half blue layers? blue, green and brown?

Sorry for hijaking but I gotta run! lol thanks in advance!!!
