Las Vegas Newbie well sort of....

Thread Starter

Hello all.    Well, it's been 20+ years since I've raised chickens.   And thanks to the Easter Bunny bringing my kids chicks, I'm at it again.  The chicks are getting big and have been moved into their temp home out side.

Coop being built.  Not sure about what to do for roofing. Coop design calls for plastic panels but I'm not sure thats the best way to go.  Metal would be more cost effective, my concern is will the metal radiate to much heat?  HELP!!!!lol.png

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan frow.gif

Metal may be a little hot in your area unless you can insulate the underside somehow

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?

Welcome to BYC and back to chickens!  Good luck with the coop build - I'm thinking that the metal does sound pretty warm although so does the plastic if it allows light in to heat the coop up. I'm sure you'll get good advice here.  Enjoy your chickens!  smile.png
