New with Thirty Chickens

Thread Starter

Hi!

My name is Melanie and I'm a new chicken owner.  It started in March when my parents asked if they could get my kids (8 and 3) some chicks for Easter.  Ended up I got 4 chickens and 2 ducks.  I wasn't exactly thrilled but did it for the love and celebration of kids and grandparents.

It took all of about 3 hours before I was hopelessly attached to the chicks. It wasn't long after that when I started noticing chickens everywhere (I live in a rural country side in Kentucky) and fell in love with Polish Chickens.

My current bird count?

2 Ducks (mallards, I think)

4 Araucanas/Americanas

1 exotic chick - unknown

6 Buff Polish Chickens

10 White Polish Chickens

10 Red Star

Looking forward to soaking up all the information on this site and getting to know many of you!

4 Easter Eggers- 3 Pullets, 1 Roo

32 Red Stars- 30 Pullets, 2 Roos

3 Buff Polish- Pullets

5 White Polish- 3 Pullets, 2 Roos

2 Delewares, 4 White Leghorns, 2 Buff Orphingtons, 2 Barred Rocks, 3 Easter Eggers- pullets

3 random silkie mixes- Unknown

Two words for you: Chicken Math.

They're addicting, and many of us on here suffer from this illness.

Helen: Daria, do you have to look at everything in such a negative light?

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?
