When can baby chicks live outside?

By age four weeks, as long as chicks have been slowly exposed to cooler temps to stimulate feather growth, most will have a nice feather jacket zipped up to their little beaks. You can be confident they will not feel the cold.

I kept it in there, because the chicks that are developing slower do hang out under the heat source. I just am scared that the bigger ones will struggle staying in the coop. The coop is 4ft X 8ft.

Also the heat source that sits in the brooder is about the same heigh as the Percy.

I got my chicks at the feed store and I asked if I needed a heat lamp and they told me no. My chicks are about 2 weeks old. I do live in Florida and keep my house no cooler than 77. Is this ok for them or should I go get a heat lamp? They all seem healthy and active...

at hatch they should be kept at 95 degrees,the next week 90 degrees the next week 85 degrees so your chicks should be kept at around 85 degrees now. next week 80, until room temp then the light can come off

I just put a 20 watt bulb above them for some heat, I have the housing from a bearded dragon we had and I will be going to the feed store tomorrow to get a bulb for them. I feel like such a bad mom now, my poor peeps!
 
So I did it last night! I did move the youngsters (a little younger then 6 weeks old) in there new permanent home. All 18 love the more space, they can now run back and go warmth to each sides of the Coop. It's 8 feet wide so they love it. I figured they all would have been scared and skidish. I was a little worried because it got down to 40 degrees in there Coop(that is with the heat lamp in there) I did wake up at 1 Am to make sure they were okay. There was 3 groups of littles cuddling together. This morning, there weren't any casualties. So that is great news!
