Lil Zoo,,I started this thread for the purpose of possibly learning the best ways to pack eggs, the best shippers to send eggs, and to help you decide from provided information within the thread as to your individual preferences when buying-shipping eggs.I for one after winning an e-bay auction from DAS here late last week, have determined to continue to use Fed-Ex guaranteed 2 day delivery,.because it took the eggs from DAS 5 days to reach me using the USPS Priority shipping method. And our distance apart was just over 500 miles.I personally think from the several BYC members here that I have shipped eggs to,my method of packing is now very good as noone has reported any broken eggs from me on this thread, since it was started.I would only hope many more BYC'ers will participate as peacocks don't lay eggs all year, and our laying season is about 1/2 way thru now.
Kedreeva has a shipment going over 2000 miles,,probably the longest distance so far of anyone who has decided to participate in this. But it will be another 20 or so days before we get the hatch results.
Please reply to me about this quote in post #90 above The e-mail that tells me you aren't interested in updates on the eggs shipped makes me question if this is the intention of this thread.
Who sent you this e-mail? I Guarantee you it was not from me.Please post for all to see and include the e-mail header as well. Yes,we do get sidetracked and off topic at times,,but please do the math and look back at the start of this thread please? The first eggs entered in this thread was shipped May 22nd to Georgialee in Tennessee,I sent her an e-mail last night asking how they was doing, and if she was ready for hatching,,she replied back Monday was the big day,and she will post updates on what-how many hatched. It is now 3 weeks later,,and I hope you will see this forum is also fun and a way to share common interests among all poultry lovers.
I never sent you an e-mail,,I'm not that type of a person.I've only had peas for 2 years now and my learning curve had to be very steep to get where I'm now at with my birds, pen building, and colors and varieties I now have here.Noone is born with a "Rules of raising peafowl" in their hands,,and if you feel offended by ANYTHING I have typed directly to you(which I think this is the first and only post) believe me it was not intentional,,I try to help others and manytimes go above and beyond,,I can give you references from people who have bought puppies from us in the past 20 years to prove that fact.Peafowl are no diffrent,,if someone here has a idea that will help me lower costs, improve the health and condition of my birds,or give me advice on treating a sick bird,,I will openly accept it and apply it if I believe it will help.Anything to save money is valued today.
This forum is about sharing and learning and some of the advice you can get here cannot be found at any University,,but from breeders who have been in the trenches for decades,,and I value their imput and creditability very, very highly.I'm sure noone here intentionally wanted to ruffle your tail fathers,,we're probably the smallest group on BYC here but we all have a humorous side and diffrent opinions. So yes,we do get off topic while we wait 26-28 days for the first results to come in,,but it keeps the thread alive while we wait in anticipation what the outcome will be.And I know sometimes we may joke with one another but lifes too short to have a dark raincloud over your head all the time.I'm here to have fun and learn, and possibly help someone else from time to time. And I don't think any of us has our hands out wanting money for advise or sharing information. At least I don't,,but sure could use an influx of cash when it's time to buy feed :)
