I wonder if the hatchery quality birds develop faster... Mine come from breeder stock, and at 3 months they were only just starting to show any wattle. My chicks at 5 wks now, no wattle at all. Now I am going to watch and note the speed of their development..
At the very least, wipe the poop off your feet before getting in the car.

That's a really good thought, Nova.  I've just been reading on another thread how different hatchery barred rocks are from breeder stock barred rocks, so this makes perfect sense.

Chicken Picken, your SLW's coloring is simply lovely.  I love birds with lacing, I've discovered.  :)  Was probably the reason I picked GLW's as one of my first breeds.  I hope mine come out as pretty as yours - they're getting prettier the older they get but still not the quality I saw in pictures online.  Probably again the difference between breeder and hatchery stock.  /shrug

My GLW's are *solid* birds too.  Like picking up bricks, lol.  I think they'd be a good choice if I were raising heritage meaties.

She is a hatchery bird. I have 3 SLW ,all hatchery stock, and shes the nicest looking the other 2 dont have very good lacing and a lot less white and one has a single comb. I love Vada(the one in the pics) I cant wait to see her full grown, shes the one I call fancy pants lol.

I'm voting pullet, sometimes SLW from hatcheries develop quickly and pullets can be mistaken for cockerels if their are no cockerels to compare it to. Cockerels will have much redder combs and much more developed wattles.

Today, she looks like she has more puff.  I'll take another picture in the next few days, but those of you saying "pullet" are giving me hope.

Chickens:  One Barred Rock, one Black Star, one Buff Orpington, one Silver Laced Wyandotte, two EasterEggers, two Golden Comets, and two White Leghorns.

Here's a picture from today.  Not too much change, but she/he is filling out a little more.

Cockerel??  Pullet???  Any definitive changes?

I still think she looks like a girl. I think her waddles and comb would be much larger if it were a boy. All 3 of mine looked similar to yours well minus my one single combed one. But I think you have a girl.
