Best Breed of Chicken for my Daughter to show at fair??

She's tried with mealworms...not with scratch. Hmmmm. Worth a try I suppose. Thanks.
 
Don't use broodies for showmanship. Bring back-up birds!

The morning of showmanship, my hen was broody at the fair. I was practicing but she wouldn't move, then she flew across the table. Thank goodness I caught her, we were in a open building.

So I had to use a bird I didn't practice with- her rooster. He was struggling and struggling in showmanship. But I didn't let him loose because that would take a bucket load of points off.

I managed to get the questions right and held on to him, and went back to his cage with first.

It is funny you said that...at our first fair we just brought one per per girl. It worked out okay but then when our second fair came around, one silkie went broody and moulted at the same time. We ended up not going because I hadn't entered any backups. We learned from the mistake and this time around, I'm entering 3 birds per girl and they have been working with all three just in case.

I think golden polish are a good breed to show at fair. My first time showing a chicken was a golden polish and I won. This year I am showing him again. And best if you get a hen my roster is a little mean.
