This is another example of words developing variations on a basic meaning. Where I lived for most of my life, no-one would want to be called a bender, especially a male.
I have no problem with people using their imaginations to describe or summarise in metaphors their beliefs and claimed personal characteristics. On the other hand, it can be taken too far. Metaphors are only that and not real. To convince yourself that your metaphor is real is to limit the future development of your skills and beliefs.
I'm often amused by Young Age people who think that they've discovered something for the first time and have gone one better then members of the Middles Age or Old Age. Sweety Pies, we've all been there and done that and are still here learning even more.
Now, where did I leave my Tarot cards?
