Oh wow, Ron! And you probably thought they were slacking!
This is an odd year. I have a 4 yr old hatchery buff Orp that quit laying mid way through her second season. Peach is very sweet, and my son's favorite, so she has a home here, but I was thinking she wouldn't survive long, maybe internal laying or something like that. Once in a great while, an unusual light egg would show up, but I always attributed it to one of the light brown layers just having a beige day. Now this year, it seems Peach is laying again! About 2 times a week, I am finding a cream colored egg and last week, it was proven to be her by process of elimination (all 3 of the Orps laid in one day!). Over the last year, we have lost a few hens and gained a few new ones, and I am thinking the new flock dynamic might have something to do with it. Very happy! We'll see if she keeps going!
My hubs just came in and said Peachy wants to come inside. She would be a house chicken if she had it her way!
