Anyone fence 4 acres with chain link? Cost???

I would go with 4 ft. high no-climb horse fencing (1 acre chicken free range area of no-climb shown below). Very strong and comparable to chain-link fence but cheaper. No-climb uses wire knots and not welds. The thin welded wire that you have on your coop area is fine but not suitable for livestock or farm fencing (the welds can break easily). Contact a local fence builder to install your 4x4 wood posts about 15 ft apart. Have them add "H" brace posts at the corners and gate area. They can do this in 1 day. Then your DH can buy the fencing and stretcher and run the fence himself. The fencer can do this as well but the labor cost will be more than the fence cost. No-climb fence will make an ideal property perimeter fence for your dogs and it will do a good job with the coyotes. We use to have coyotes on our 23 acres often until I fenced the perimeter. The builder added the posts and I did the fence myself. We also added a strand of barb wire up 2" above the 4' fence. I would add a smaller 1/2 acre or 1 acre free range area for the chickens to keep them away from your house and flowerbeds. A cheaper option would be to use field fence for the perimeter. A 330 ft roll will cost under 200 bucks at Tractor Supply. If you do decide to go with chain-link then I would hire a fence builder to install. Just my 2 cents worth.
