I would never do that to you Jim, especially not on purpose after dealing with that loss.  I can completely commiserate with you on it, which is why I did go to splitting my shipments.  I figure I better my odds that way after killing off most of that one hatch of mine.  I used to try to put all of one hatch date in one bator and have them in order of lockdown.  Now I just do the extra work of keeping 1/2 in each, just in case.

I am, however doing the happy dance wee.gif about the new eggs and the fact that I now know what you used to know and were tormenting me with....ha

I know, these swaps are a blast! That anticipation is a major part of the fun.   I am sure I am annoying you all today, but I feel like I have hit the motherlode of swapping this time as all of the eggs that I received from my lovely partners were all ones on my drool list.  droolin.gif  Yay me!

I had muscovy eggs that I bought and duck and guinea eggs and the bator was FULL. The regular duck and guineas only had 2 days to go before lock down, muscovy still had a week to go before lockdown.

we lost power for about 6 hours the other day...  i would HIGHLY recommend getting a UPS battery backup (uninteruptible power supply). i've got the incubators/hatcher on the biggest one we could get. the turners are on regular power, so just the fans and heat were on battery. it ran the 4 just fine for the whole time power was out.

the alternative is go with the 12v incubators. then if power goes out you can just hook it to a deep-cycle battery and keep cookin'.  then again i've also got 2 generators for the 'just in case' since we do emergency communications if something happens locally.  we also have a portable solar charger as well that will keep 5 or 6 deep cycle batteries topped up and ready to go. (the kind used by DOT for their mobile warning signs & such)

I received big dark brown eggs from Shellyga today! What are they? Mebby Wellies? They have some beautiful spots!  Dark enough to be Marans.  One of them is  leaking slightly but I dont see a crack. what type of  wax do peopel use on eggs? I bet this one can be saved if I knew how.

On a separate note, why is it costing people so much more to ship to me then it is for me to ship to them? Is click and ship  printing postage off on my computer really that much of a difference? Seeing all these shipping charges on these boxes are making me feel  bad.

I imagine people getting their  list and saying CALIFORNIA!! NOOOOOOOOOO
