Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed) - Page 15

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I had a fantastic one visiting my DD on her only day off of work on Sat. I got up early, took care of all the critters and got on the road early to make the 2 hr drive.  It was a quick over night visit, but oh so good to see her.

Here's pics of the beanie head huggers I made for her to donate to the staff campership auction.

The move is going much slower than anticipated.  We've only gotten 1 coop over so far plus enough furniture and personal items to sleep at the new place.  They spent 1 whole day just moving the coop and birds.  Those coops are huge and heavy.  We really needed a crane but are using ramps, a jack and winch instead.  Animals are safe though and we are all fine so that is the most important thing.

No internet service at the new place so I will check in when I can take breaks at the old place.

Take care!  I hope all is going well for  everyone of you!!!   smile.png

Hi everybody!!!  (I always thing of Grover from Sesame Street when I say that).

Nothing much going on here but boring moving, moving, moving.

What's up with you all?  I can tell it is almost summer cause a lot of the threads I check in on are super quiet these days.  Guess folks are out enjoying the gorgeous weather!  It is beautiful here.  High seventies with calm winds.  I think I got a tad sunburned today though.     tongue.png

103 here today with hot wind.

Smitty-cute caps. Are they the kind that got auctioned for the fundraiser?

I don't mind a mild sunburn after a cold Winter. Being warm is much more comfortable for me. There's a chance I'll be in the desert sometime this Summer. I don't require that kind of heat, but living in alpine Mt. Shasta for seventeen and a half years, then in rainy Oregon, I'm glad to be in the Bay area where it is at least warmish and sunnyish. I miss the chickens, though.

Thank you everyone for the compliment on the hats. I really enjoy making them. They work up pretty fast. I know the logo needs work, but it's getting a wee bit better. I posted a pic of them to my crochet album on FB and a friend from my home town wants me to make her 2 sets of beanie head huggers w/ matching wrist warmers out of the warm Lion's Brand Home Spun yarn.

Sunny~ Hang in there with the moving. I know it takes a while to get the job done esp when several coops and live stock is involved. Been thinking of you. I hope all is going well.

Writer~ Wowser!!!!  103 degrees is so hot!

Alethea~ We've been having beautiful weather. It's warm and sunny during the day, but mild at night. I've been trying to enjoy it before the intense heat hits, but like you & Sunny I do prefer the heat over the cold any ole' day.

Hello~

It is quiet on here and other threads lately. Sunny I think you guess right that people must be busy enjoying the nicer weather. I know I sure am trying before the crazy heat hits us. Another beautiful day here. After I got all my morning duties and apts out of the way I went to the pool this afternoon to soak up some natural Vit D.

Alethea the first 2 hats (the mixed bright yarn & green one w/ the poorly stitches logo) was the 2 hats I donated for the auction. I wish I would have remembered sooner to make them or I would have made more to donate. The other blue one & green one I just made for fun since DD said a lot of the staff liked them. I took those 2 down when I went to visit my DD last weekend and gave them to her. Not sure what has become of them since I handed them over to her. Very little cell phone service on camp and she can't whip out her phone in front of campers now that camp is in full swing.  I made an orange one and edged it in white and did the logo in white. I also did the logo a little different on that one as well. My DH has a free lance job filming a TV show that is featuring camp, so I sent it down with him this morning to give to DD. I forgot to take a pic of it before I shipped it off, but maybe DD will do it for me.

A few nights a go I was bored hanging at the shop w/ hubby so I made a sage green one edged in black w/ a black flower on it. (Lily's cotton yarn)   A young man that lives near the shop that comes in to visit us while we work has seen me working on all the hats and really liked them and commented that he'd like a camo one. His B-day is Mon so I made a camo one for him while I was at the pool today. I know it's so weird to be crocheting beanie hats when it's almost summer time.

So now I really need to buckle down and start focusing on the swap in between all the other little projects that keep popping up.  tongue.png

Does anyone else have any more swap square pics to share?

I think I'm on square number 8. When I get 10 done (that's a set for now, isn't it?) I'll post a picture and start on a 12" square. I have a pattern for a 14" square and am going to see whether it can stop at 12". I'm not sure because it is circular until the last couple of rounds. It's worth a try one way or another because I still have difficulty with patterns and it's a way to learn. Usually I use a pattern until I get confused, then bail out and improvise. Don't put me into the cockpit of a 747.
