Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed) - Page 18

Good Morning~

Sunny~ Hope the move is going well!  I am embarrassed to admit that I still have some boxes in my basement I haven't unpacked from our move over 9 yrs ago.  hide.gif

Now that DD will be heading to college this fall it's one of the MANY projects on my long list to attend to.  tongue.png I can't wait to purge the basement, but have to do my office first.

Alethea~ Thank you!!!!  I didn't know it was the Bay are you moved to. One of best friends grew up there and she lives outside the city now. I went once to visit her when I was about 20 yrs old. She showed me all around the city. My DD wants to go to the 3 day concert at Golden Gate Park in Aug called Outside Lands. She's intrigued b/c it's based all on recycling, organic food, veggie/vegan friendly. She's not as thrilled w/ the band line up this year. BTW~ I was craving watermelon as well after I read you post. I just ate our last piece last week. YUM!!!

Writer~  YAY!!! clap.gif Glad you found some colors in the stores. I ended up having to go to 4 places to find the yarn. (Walmart, JoAnn's, Michael's & Hobby Lobby) I found all colors except the pretty metallic royal. I keep thinking it just might show up in the stores and if not I will order it soon from Caron. I was in Walmart last week and naturally decided to pop over to the yarn to take a peek and noticed that they were getting low on the sparkly colors on our list, so I picked up another Red Heart Shimmer (Ivory) since the skeins are smaller.

I haven't had time to make any more squares, so I just have the lonely one finished, but I have been skimming through all my pattern books.

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! Sunny in the upper 80's & gorgeous here again!

No stresses....you're fine. The dead line for sign up isn't until July 31st and then we have a couple of months after that to complete them to be ready to mail sometime in Sept.  smile.png

I was just trying to get a jump on things b/c I'm a huge procrastinator and I know I'm going to be super busy in July and Aug.

The foam board worked great for the blocking!! One down and a lot more to go! lau.gif

I hope everyone is staying cool. It was really hot and humid here today, but nothing like what some of you are experiencing.

We all love to see pictures.  I've been gone all day today and managed to get to JoAnne's in Bakersfield.  I'm glad I ordered my yarn online because they didn't have anything of the colors on the list.  I bought quilt batting for the two grandsons quilts I'm making for Christmas so hope to get them layered and quilted soon.  I have three rows left on the blue runner I'm crocheting so will probably finish it tomorrow and then I can block it and take a picture.  I checked on the delivery date for the yarn and Fed Ex says by the 21st.

It was hot here today,107 and was 103 in Bakersfield.  I fried up my first batch of okra last night for dinner and had fresh sliced tomato also.

Senior lady who loves desert living.  My flock consists of both large breed and bantams  My aviary consists of parakeets, canaries, zebra finches and Coturnix Quail. I love to garden, quilt, crochet, knit and read.  I have a German Shepherd puppy named "Sadie."

Sunny~ We totally understand! I'm sure we've all been through the experience of moving. I know I've had some crazy stressful ones, so I totally understand. Thinking of you!!!  hugs.gif

Betty~ Whew...glad you ordered your yarn since Joann's didn't have any of the colors. That is so weird! Usually JoAnn's has the best selection. What designs are these quilts you are making now? You are so amazing always working on multiple projects and whipping them out so fast. You are an inspiration to me. Oh how I long to learn to sew. I will make a quilt before I leave this earth...it's on my bucket list.  smile.png

Happy Father's Day!!!!

We'll be down at our new business all day long for a bike race event that proceeds go toward Relay for Life. We somehow got roped into participating in a Wing Cook Off so we'll be busy with that today. I did leave a few bags of my crocheting supplies there last night incase I got a breather to play with it.

Not sure if I'll have internet today. I hope everyone has a GREAT day!  bun.gif
