What did you do in the garden today?

I've lost count of how many times we've moved in the last nine years. Always an issue. Couldn't find work, roommates didn't want to share anymore, rent went too high, landlord lied because he got greedy, neighborhood went to the gangs... now, we're moving for more freedom. And I'll be able to have a garden in the new place. ☺

It sucks. It really does. I hate moving and feel the pain.

I want to move, just once more. I want out of the city and onto some land. So much development though i fear when we do we’ll end up surrounded by developments if i cant get a big enough property. Anyone have, or previously had, a USDA loan? How do they work? I have looked into them but want first hand experience knowledge from someone.
Also, was told on a VA loan I cant have a business. Is that true? I got that from the bank we got our mortgage from who tried everything to not have us do the VA loan. So i dont know if they were lying.

HELP!!!

What is this bug that's eating my bean plants?

The beans are Kentucky Wonder. There's corn planted right in the same plot and it's not getting eaten at all. There's also some weeds sprouted amongst the beans and those seem to be undamaged also. Just the beans! The bug looks like some sort of beetle. I thought I was looking at a brown ladybug for a second, and then realized it's something else and it its throwing a family dinner party in my three sisters patch with bean leaves as the main course!

EDOT: I discord they are Bean Leef Beetles. Fitting name! Now to attempt to get them under control... Ugh! Anybody dealt with them before with any success?

UGH. Already?!?!
Bonide is my go to.
Thanks. I'll check that out and see if I can find some ASAP.

At least it's not Japanese beetles. We had a battle with those three first year we had the garden here, so 4 years ago now. They were everywhere and ate everything it seemed. Not much of a problem since though.

 I catch those for my chickens. It was kind of fun.

Rotenone, pyrethrum or neem are organic recommendations for your beetles. They tend to drop to the ground if the plant is disturbed. Maybe put a bucket of water with a little soap in it under the plant, then tap the plant?
