What did you do in the garden today?

Back from the local squash farm.
This is what he said about the squash beetle control.
Use two pyrethrin products and rotate them, one on one use, the next use the other.
He sprays, dusts, and fogs (he has 5 acres of squash)
He said to start EARLY July and don't stop, every 5 days you treat.
Once you see adults you have a lost cause.
If you find larvae, you are almost lost.
You can't treat the adults.

He said be relentless.

Hey all, I'm back! Hope I didn't miss too much, no way I'm going to be able to catch up.

Garden was a little out of control after being gone, but the peppers are coming in good now. Couple jalapenos were out there a little too long. It was worth the 2nd planting of both pole & bush beans & yellow squash - both are producing pretty well considering my lack of care the last few weeks.

My first harvest today (theres more) & what was left of the squirrels harvest - he had lunch on my garden bench:

My chicks ship tomorrow. I need to get the brooder coop ready, project for tmrw I guess.

If it ripens, I will get one small butternut squash. :idunno Other than the weird weather, I can't figure why the vines didn't make female flowers until late August, and the deer ate a lot of the leaves. I'm blaming it on the deer. Still, it's the first time I haven't had b-nut to share with the neighbors.

Anybody in zone 5 plant sugar snap peas this late and get anything for it?

I’m in 6A and I think it’s too late for peas…they seem to hate the frost that arrives mid-oct. I planted some radishes 2 days ago (25-30 day listed on package).

Is that bench all red cedar? It is beautiful, as is your harvest!

OK... A moment of mourning. I had moved 3 chicks out to the coop with my Silkies and 2 game hens. The chicks are at least a week old, probably 2. I had places for the babies to escape the adults. The chicks have been out there for at least 3 or 4 days now.... But this evening I discovered my favorite little chick has been pecked to death. 😭
