What did you do in the garden today?

I identified the bugs I've been seeing on my potatoes. These are blister beetles.

"Blister beetles are narrow, elongate insects. They may be found feeding in clusters on potato leaves. Infestations are usually localized within fields and treatment of an entire field is seldom necessary. Rarely do blister beetles do enough damage damage to cause any yield loss."
ETA: I hilled my potatoes yesterday, and didn't see any blister beetles today. I don't know if it's coincidence or not.
Oh ok, our first average frost is November 24th. We have a very long season.

This is a jar of peaches we canned this year. I think we just crammed more in the jar but they still seem floaty so you're probably just fine.

Good to know!

Hot, steamy. We need rain, but other than a brief sprinkle, it has all been going past us to the north or south. Sticky out there.

I’ll take pics for eye candy in a bit.

Melons: ok, but not great success yet. Some producing, but then growth stalls. Nothing very big. Two pulled due to wilt.

Busy day yesterday - had to drive to the “big city” yesterday and do errands, got back in time for kid’s sports practice, then off for another errand. Catching up today.

One type of Waltham Butternut squash.

Another source of Waltham Butternut - the squash shape is a bit different from above and they were definitely later flowering than the previous source in the above pic.

patty pan squash. I have two types planted, but one was definitely preferred by the SVB, so they will need to be pulled so I can kill the nasty little caterpillars in the stem.

Archway with gourds. Next year, I'll grow the Hyacinth bean vine here and the gourds on the chicken run fence.

Fall bed of beets and carrots - this filled in fast and I have thinned the beets once already!

Fall bed of green beans and carrots. Tied up the beans so they would not flop on the carrots, but the carrots appreciate some shade.
