What did you do in the garden today?

Went out to check on the peppers and tomatoes. The peppers were looking a bit bedraggled from transplant but they seem ok now. Tomatoes are looking healthy and growing like weeds. I noticed the aloe blooms are about to open, the hummingbirds will be happy with that.

Yay! Chicks.

As it turns out, we got several breeds of bantams (more than the 4 I requested).
The bantam breeds we got are:
Partidge Wyandotte
Silver Pencilled Wyandotte
Rhode Island Red
Black Tailed White Jap
Silver Spangled Hamburg
Black Rose Comb
Columbian Rock

We also got 8 High Production, regular sized, "Golden Buff Cross" chicks. One bantam chick did not make it, unfortunately.

The cucumbers are up.
I transplanted some more tomatoes, Box Car Willie.
Planted the strawberry seeds.
Watered all the trees, and refilled the birdbath.
Built 4 more birdhouses, and quit when I ran out of nails.
Heading over 90 today with winds gusting to 50.
Fire weather.
Chance of flurries Saturday LOL.
Still nothing planted outside.

I started planting the strawberries in the new beds and then DH came out and said "how are we going to move these into the garden if you put the plants in already???" Uhhh.....good point. So I gently pulled them all back out. Currently have them soaking in a bowl of water with Super Thrive and getting a little dappled sunlight.

I just need to pick up the drain pans tomorrow and move the barrels into the garden, THEN I'll be ready to plant. I'm so impatient to get them moving along.....☺️

Redbud trees are starting to bloom as are Asian pears at a orchard nearby. Hollyhock seeds are sprouting in ground bed. Nothing in the pots but soon. I think my grape graft took as it is budding out. Planted red noodle beans in a mineral tub. 90 days it says so mid July. I should be able to protect from frost or replant. Decided to wait and plant peas in fall. I will be gone a lot in June so no go now.

Several of my tomato seedlings have an issue. I didn't get a picture, so I'll try to describe how they look.

They look like a tiny, seed-size lollypop on a stem. The seed leaves didn't break open the seed hull. I've seen it before, and have never seen one like this actually make it. Well, I counted about a dozen of those. I think I'm going to be replanting a bunch of seeds tomorrow. :(
