So lovely to read the stories! I saved a duck once with a broken wing, it ended up being amputated but she survived 3 surgeries to get there and she didnt even weigh 2kg! That was Talli, Named for 'Taleisin' in the Avalon series. A male name, because I thought she was male, shortened to Talli once I knew she was female. She was a pacific black who looked a lot like my drake.

My drake is in my avatar and his name is Wist. Named for a female dragon in the book 'DragonFlame' by Graham Edwards. Couldnt change it. He likes it, hes a bit girly! Pictured with him is his favourite female Varia, named for the amazon queen in Xena.



Wist with Ephinny and Syanne, also named for amazon queens in Xena. I named all the pekin/ pekin crosses for amazon queens because they are 4 times the size of Wist! Also pictured chicken Sheena, jungle queen.



Regina the moscovy, named for the evil Queen in once upon a time, because she is spoilt rotten queen duck! (with my daughter Akasha)



Light, named for the sisters Truth and Light in the Marion Zimmer Bradley Books



Thorne, named for Truth and Light's father


Originally Truth, to fit the above, now he's a drake he's Trafalgar True from the childrens books, (serendipidy books)


Amelia, named for The Doctor's companion, season 5 doctor who

Theres also a beautiful Australorp named Shiela, for no particular reason except that shes an Auzzie chick...We call em shiela's

The one on the left looks like a pekin (aflac duck). Not sure about the right.

Brown ones (rouens or Campbells, not sure which) are Jesse and James, pekins are Fred and frank (or mama Fred and Francie)

The dark brown ones are almost definitely Khaki Campbells. Rouen ducklings have yellow on their body and face.

Before I got her, I had two dreams in which I was calling out, "Jupiter" to a pet goose. Even though it's associated with the Roman God of Gods, I decided it works for both genders.

This is her at 6 days old. She's 10 days old today.

Whimsy is an awesome name. Love it.
