What is the difference between a pip and a cheep. Sorry that is probably a dumb question but I don't really know.

a pip is when they use their beak to break the membrane or the egg shell.

A cheep is a noise they make from when the first take a breath to about 8 weeks old until it turns into standard chicken noise.

I have my first chick out of the shell.  Not any of the ones that have been pipped  half the day.  This one just broke out in less than an hour.

So far we have 14 LBs.  I left the wet one in the bator and spritz the eggs, but I'm bad and usually take the chicks out 6-18 hrs after hatching.  The 6 yellow chicks are my SF pullets that arrived on Friday.  LBs started hatching Friday night and still going.
