I was just going to suggest this. We have a local classifieds website too with its own poultry section. Tons of people are getting rid of their chickens of all ages.

Some of the ads make me laugh. One woman was selling her chickens because they were "getting too big". They were still in the brooder! roll.png

Good luck to you, I'm sorry more of your chicks didn't make it, but glad one did. Welcome to BYC! big_smile.png

Tried the various Craigslists for Colorado but the only one I saw were a 4 hour drive each way. Did just post on Facebook for the closed group for our small town.

That gave me the idea to check the classifieds of the newspaper an hour away. Too bad I don't need a pickup truck or gun rack or dog. We happen to be way out in the boonies... it's over two hours to the nearest freeway.

I am sure they will, they have a very good reputation. Phoned them and was on hold for a while so left a msg and expect a call back.

Had a very good talk with someone from My Pet Chicken. Both he and my husband think that the box was tossed upside down and that is how the mishap occurred. We agreed that he would refund most of the shipping charge and all of the chicken losses, and then I went ahead and placed a slightly different order, depending on what was available, to be shipped next Monday.

Also found a good local chicken resource and she suggested mirrors in the corner of the box where the chick could see "other" chicks! will try that now.

A local chicken lady gave me an idea that has been a hit with my solitary chick. I put a hand mirror in the box, learning up against one of the walls in the corner. My chick and the mirror chick have been inseparable for hours!

Keep us posted on how it all develops and how the new chicks get along with this one.

Best of luck!
