I can't wait to get mixed breed chicks.  My chicks are almost 16 weeks old now. My roosters are a Buff Orpington, Blue Andalusian, Production Reds ( well I'm hoping to butcher these guys and the BR and Dom before breeding occurs), Barred Rock, Dominique, and  a 3 day old White Cochin. My pullets are Easter Egger, Ancona, White Cochin, Splash Andalusian, Silver and Golden Lakenvelders ( the Goldens and 1 Silver are 3 days old, the other Silver is almost 16 weeks), Barred Rock, and a Production Red ( another butcher bird possibly). Oh and a slew of Silkies lol.

You did exactly what I did! I decided I wanted chickens and got a serious case of the Gotta-Have-Its.gig.gifI now have 26 chickens under the age of 14 weeks, of 10 breeds. A dozen lavender orp chicks to pick up Saturday, and a batch of eggs going into the incubator tomorrow. I am having a blast, though, my family thinks I've gone crazy. BTW, hubby had to build me 2 coops to house them, and I haven't had the nerve to ask for the one I want for the Orps...yetlau.gif

I have some mixed breed chicks that should be hatching out any day now. I had my Faverolles Hen go broody and I figured to just let her sit on what she had. The rooster of the flock is a gorgeous Blue Cochin, and the other hens are a Barred Rock, Mottled Houdan, and a Tetra Tint. I am really curious what the chicks will look like. I'll make sure to post pics of when they hatch.

Got them babies yet?

Hope you all like pics, because all 8 eggs hatched! The broody mama though gave up on hatch day, so I put the eggs in my incubator to hatch. They are all very strong, and lively little chicks. And every one looks a little different!  The daddy was a big Blue Cochin to all the chicks, different moms.

This was the only one from my TetraTint mom, the biggest chick too.

These two had the Salmon Faverolles mom, I love the little beards!

These three are from the Barred Rock mom, the two on the right both have white spots on top of their heads. I'm thinking boys?
