My chicken watering solution

I set up a nipple system tied to a 5 gallon cooler that's in my shed, out of sun and weather. Works well but the water clouds up. I put 1 T ACV per gallon in the water and after about 3 days it gets cloudy and I feel like I should drain and disinfect the system. I like the ACV but should I abandon it? We travel at times and for them to have clean water for several days without having someone having to change it is a real benefit. Or is the cloudiness just the ACV and OK?

I found that colloidial silver worked better than ACV, but if you go that way you'll want to get equipment to make your own. Good for humans too! We got ours here: http://silverpuppy.com/

I'm also a fan of Lugol's iodine mentioned above but I haven't compared that for water maintenance -- I just take it myself.

I assume that if you're using a cooler that the water is in darkness? That is good as light encourages algae.

I have not tried the ACV. I unhook my 5 gallon tank about once per month and hose it out. I will had maybe one half of a capful of standard , unscented bleach to my 5 gallons of water. No gunk growing here.
