Cute little baby...

I have a couple of new photos of my broody and her two babies... 2 weeks old....

The two babies are a White Wyandotte \ Red SexLink mix... not genetically related to mama... They will likely be the same size as her about the time she is done with them...lol

My goal.....a Rainbow Egg Basket and a small sustainable living farm.

That front chick in the second pictures looks like it has mom's attitude down pat. It has the same look and pose as mom! love.gif

We lost another egg today. When I was giving the flock some scratch today Maria came off the nest and was wanting some too. So I put some in there withe her. I got to look at her nest and noticed one of the eggs had a crack all the way across the top of it. I got my DH to get it out for me. It stunk bad! sickbyc.gif Not sure if it was just unfertile to begin with, or if it was a quitter. idunno.gif So now Maria is down to 4 eggs under her. Hopefully they make it through the next 11 days and make it to hatch day. fl.gif

Well we went on vacation for 3 days and came back to 3 more eggs missing from Maria's clutch leaving 1 egg for her. We left it with her and hoped she would make it to today. Well Wednesday when DH went out to feed the chickens he saw that Maria had broken the last egg so he let her back into general population. So no chicks from this broody for us. he.gif I don't know if we did something wrong ourselves or if Maria was just not cut out to be a good hatcher. We will definately think twice about using her again. It's a good thing we got these eggs for free because I'd be realy ticked if I had put money into these and she destroyed them all. smack.gif

Hazel has started laying again and her chick is on it's own in the flock now. The chick appears to still be a pullet at 5 weeks old. fl.gif Hoping I'm right on that.

Good luck to everyone else on their hatches.
