My new baby brooder.

Hi - my only comment on that is that it looks a little draughty for newly hatched chicks.
I'd be proud to have that brooder for my chicks. It would do very well.

Hi - my only comment on that is that it looks a little draughty for newly hatched chicks.

After the chicks hatch I keep them in a 20 gallon aquarium until they out grow it which doesn't take long. Then they go into the brooder in the pic. Having them in the basement I didn't worry about drafts, but when I put them in the garage, I wrapped the brooder in plastic and kept heat on them until they out grew it. Now they are inside my pole barn while I build a coop outside for them.the coop build can be seen here.https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/731054/new-coop-build

Here is my brooder I built. The 2 levels work great for different age hatches. I built the top section first and then realized the bottom was wasted space so I built the slide in unit for it. I love it and it works awesome.

Yeah - I have found you can get much better heat control with a dimmer.
That light bulb is just for show- it willl be replaced with a  ceramic type heat bulb.

Looks great Ash!

Did you use a ceramic fitting as well? Those ceramic bulbs can melt plastic ones.
