hello to all experanced chicken owners. I think this is a good ? for all new owners esp those in the city.

4th of July is coming up real soon so fire crakers will be going on sale with in the next few weeks. What that means for me is the punk teenageres in the hood are going to start setting off the noisy things. then on the 4th of July where I live we have 3 casions that set of the big ones and then down town hendeson also dose and I am just a few blocks away. My dogs are locked indoors with the tv on real loud and they still stress out. WHAT ABOUT MY CHICKS THIS YEAR?  should I bring them in to the loud TV. will this give them a heart attack with all the big booms going off and lights flashing in the air. how do your chickens handle these big explsions.

My city farm:

4 Chickens 1 Buff Orpington Cheerio Rose, 2 Exchequer Leg Horn Lilly & Phoenix and 1 Amber star mix Little Bit.

3 rats Summer, Winter and Spring

3 Dogs: Lab Honey bear, Samoyed Duke, Pit mix Candii

3 cats: Snickers, Kit Kat, Zelda

1 desert turtle Harry

And a whole lot of fish in the fish tank

Most of my dogs hate fireworks.  A couple even hate thunder storms and complain as long as the noise continues.  I have never had trouble wih poultry being affected by fireworks, but would guess that the reaction is dependent upon the proximity of the fireworks.  I doubt that I would let them watch TV.  What shows would you choose for them?

Too funny!  But, we also have dumb neighbors that live right next door and are obnoxious all night long.  I hope my chicks will be okay.  Put the movie Chicken Run on!  lau.gif

My pothead neighbors set off illegal rockets all night long last year. Had the horses in a frenzy but the birds just slept right through it.

Well, the kittens aren't so cute anymore and the easter egger cockerels are in the freezer. Plus, I think offering them as "prizes" scared folks off! So, I'm still posting quotes, if you know it let me know. I'm very enamored of this new one, it may hang around for a while!
