14 days old & balding Black Sumatra?

We have 30 new chicks of many different breeds & all seem very healthy & are growing quickly except the two Black Sumatras. They are still very small compared to the others and one seems just fine, but the other has a large bald spot on its haunches just before the tail and its gotten worse over the past few days. All the other chicks are getting new feathers and none of the others have this problem...does anyone know what might be causing this? I watch over them all the time & I don't notice any of the others pecking at them. Also, a few days after we got them that same chick seemed out of sorts & seemed to have trouble standing up straight but that went away & she eats & drinks just as much as the others....any ideas or suggestions?

Well, my chickens sometimes jump on one another and pull their feathers out. Maybe it is

because of the size of the chickens, bigger chickens will pick on smaller chickens.

I hope they are okay!

Where did you buy your chicks from? They may be able to help. I just got my sumatras from ideal and they seem finr to me. Altho one of their d'uccles came to us with a malformed leg. This was my first hatchery stock buy and I am now sold on the buy from breeders wagon! Smaller set up = better fowl imo. Hope she gets better.

I got them from Meyer Hatchery....good idea, I'll contact them asap! I haven't noticed any of the others pecking at that one or jumping on her...she seems fine otherwise...
