I noticed that two of my chicks have some toes that curl outward. Should I do something? If so, any suggestions? Thanks.

I looked up some information on splinting the chicks toes. But one website said not to do it if they are older than a week. Which they are in my case.

Could I still use splints? Can splinting fix this problem?

-Thanks

if they're walking on them fine i'd just leave them alone...... i've had some chicks with some pretty weird lookin feet and they straightened out fine... had some that grew up with odd looking feet but were fine adult birds, good layers and had no problems...

They are walking/running perfectly fine it seems. I just don't want them to be in pain or have curled toes as adults, ya know?

Thanks!

We have a year old hen with that malady.... she's had it since she was a chick. She walks just fine and does not seem to have any issues......

Your chick should be alright......

We've had this quite a bit with different chicks but when they grew up and the toes we larger and thicker, they were just fine. It seemed like the bones were "soft" when they were young and then when the matured, they seemed to 'firm' up and get thicker and stronger and looked just fine.
This is the only way to describe the growing up process...LOL
We had a rooster with no toe nail and he showed just fine too, if that's a worry.
I wouldn't worry about it at all if the chick is walking and eating, etc. all should be just fine
