Top layer of my roo's beak has been broken off - Page 2

There is definitely some improvement on his beak, though yesterday I noticed one eyelid was swollen, and today that's a little worse.  Another of my birds had this a few weeks ago and within a couple of days it was fine, and there is no discharge or other symptom, so I'm not too worried about it this time.  Anyway here's what he looks like today:

His little wattles are getting bigger every day, too!

But... here's his other eye.

I rinsed it with saline and carefully applied a little antibiotic ointment on the top, with a Q-tip.  After that and a few pictures he decided enough with the attention already.  Does anyone think his nostrils look kind of pinched?  When he (gulps) food out of my hands, he sometimes pauses to expel a breath out his nostrils and I thought at first they were swollen inside, from the sound.  Sounds like me trying to breathe when I'm stuffed up.  But he's been doing this for two and a half weeks so maybe that's just how they are.  There is no discharge from them or any other symptom of respiratory problem.

Thanks for anyone's input!

I have a BO with very narrow nostrils like that.  I needed to apply pinless peepers to my flock last spring and I never could get them on her because of the nostrils.

Thanks, CMV.  I love your avatar, by the way -- very cool!

I just wanted to post an update, for anyone who is interested -- Napoleon Dynamite's beak is doing very well.  It hasn't fully grown back yet but his points are meeting anyway, and he's able to hold his own getting Fud now.  He has also figured out what to do with all the LADIES around him, and while reception is mixed, it's not for lack of trying on his part.  Anyway here he is looking rather grown up (at 18 weeks).

(He was also attacked by a fox a couple of weeks ago, and lost a lot of feathers on his back.  I ran out just in time to scare off the fox, but since then we have a supervision rule when they're free ranging.  Larger pen is in planning.  Everybody is just fine at this point.)
