Since y'all seem to like baby pictures... here you go.

I'm trying to figure out which of my standards is the Col. Wyandotte and which is the EE (it seems chicks of either one can be the chipmunky0brownish-grey color OR mostly yellow!). I would think the larger chick of the two would be the Wyandotte? Also I have a BC Polish, white silkie chick (or buff - depends on how it grows out), EE bantam, and an as-of-yet mystery bantam - I'm thinking buff brahma.

Starting left - Col. Wyandotte or EE (thoughts form the experts?) White silkie, Polish, unknown bantam, EE bantam, and Col. Wyandotte or EE?

Pic 2, front chick looks to have EE fluffy cheeks but I'm no expert,I just got my EE chicks on Saturday but they were already 2 weeks old.

That's what I thought too Diane - but with the size difference I saw... oh Hell - I'll find out if they survive and feather out huh? Yours still doing well this morning? I went to look in on them at 6am and they were all spread out face-down-wings-out like roadkill. Would have scared me if I hadn't been warned that they like to do their best to freak you out.

LOL I had to warn my husband about the road kill look. He had been going in regularly to check on the brooder box and I didn't want him to freak out. I've kept him busy working on the coop so he's had less time to check.

They are too darn cute!!

yes, mine are still pretty wild , they have discovered I have shavings underneath the paper towels they are walking on, and are dying to pull up the paper towels and do some digging!

LOL today is my only day off this week. I plan to spend some time just watching them.. holding them and doing the same with our new bunnies. I soo need some down time.. Can't imagine better down time then playing with them.

Then I'll get back to reality and hit the coop.. shingling side 2 today... woo hoo!!

Pray the rain stays away.. I am really missing the sunshine..

Nancie

It's looking like a sunshine day here in central MA Nancie. I'm in the same boat - I have to go put walls on the house. As it stands now it's not the most predator-proof that I've seen...

Jakoda - are yours still wild? Mine are like mashed potatoes most of the time. The EE bantam is the most active - bouncing around like a little flea sometimes. But for the most part they're all pretty quiet, just laid-back chicks. They're not even peeping a whole lot. I figured there'd be a lot more noise... The biggest offender is the silkie chick. She definitely looks to be bottom of the pecking order already. My big EE chick - I'm hoping it's a girl. She's very bold - she's run right up to my hand a couple of times almost like a challenge. But then she stops. Hope it's just that she's definitely the biggest (huge compared to the others!) and not that she's a boy!

They are too cute! They look like my EE's too, but it's so hard to tell. Givem a couple of weeks. Now my EE's are easy to spot!!

Yes they are huh? And the big one is the EE standard - she (I hope) has the cheek puffs - and the little greyish-yellow one is the EE bantam - same thing with the cheeks. Question for you folks who would know - are silkie chicks just more "mellow" than some others? She's always just kinda hanging. She's alert, eats (a little) pecks around, drinks, but is a lot more low-key than the others. This normal or should I watch her?
