Mama chicken has tapeworm, have questions.

I originally posted only that one of my pens has worms. I now know its the mama hen with her two almost four week old babies. They rely on her for warmth and protection still. I really want to keep the chicks with her. Suggestions appreciated!!

Hi! I discovered that I had tape worms in one of my chickens so I dewormed that flock with Wazine, 14 days later with Valbazen. Now a few days later I am seeing live tape worm segments in the same pen.

My question is, Do I deworm with Valbazen again...then a final time two weeks later? OR Do I do Wazine then Valbazen again? OR Is there something else I need to do?

Wazine will not take care of tapeworms. You need to read this thread and do what Dawg53 says to do. He is the tapeworm expert! wink.png

Thank you for providing me this link. It's great information from the always awesome Dawg53 smile.png I edited this thread to add that the hen affected has chicks with her. I don't really want to separate her from them. I'm hoping to get new insight...Maybe letting her crop empty before going to roost and dosing her right before so she has at least 12 hours of emptiness??

I'm bumping my own thread because the situation has changed so I'm hoping to get new insight.
