First time... hen is smashing her babies ....

Silly me...I had no idea my blue banty was setting on fertile eggs, as her "husband" was sold over a month ago. So here is my issue. Found 4 babies last night, all away from her, 1 dead, 1 at dealths door and 2 that were pretty much ok, but a bit cold. We lost the one that was so weak, and the other 2 are doing pretty good. The 1 still has a neck issue, with his head between its legs, but seems a bit better this AM. Went out this morning to find a egg with a beak peaking through, took it and put it in the box (with heat lamp etc) with the other chicks.

Any advise on what to do. The chicks have access to a very shallow water pan, and some ground up oats (I will get chick starter mash on my lunch hour) I have seen them eat and drink on a regular basis.  I will also be getting a red heat lamp for them, they are under a white heat lamp at the moment and tend lay a bit away from it, so I assume they are warm..

Thank you for any info :)

They are fine for up to 72 hrs. Make sure they drink and eat the chick starter. Congrates

Go to the  Murray McMurray web site.  They have a good page on starting baby poultry.  BTW, while you are getting the chick starter, pick up a baby chick waterer.  There are some inexpensive plastic ones that hold about a quart.

The obscure we understand eventually.
The obvious takes a little longer.

Not a good mom that one! Silly hen. What's happening with the unhatched egg? You will have to make sure the membrane doesn't dry out. These threads may help:
