olive egger pullets? pic heavy

I bought these yesterday.  They are suppossed to be Cottage Hill rooster over Black Ameraucana hen or  Blue-Black-Splash Ameraucana rooster over Wade Jeane and Bev Davis Black Coppper Marans hens (he had both, but he wasn't sure which ones these were).  He said they are about 10 weeks old.  I don't know enough about combs and such to know if these are pea combs and what to look for.  So did I really get olive egger pullets?  I'm a little nervous about getting more roos since 2 out of 4 of my last batch of 'pullets' ended up being cockerels.  Please tell me that they will probably lay green eggs and that they are both girls.fl.gif

anybody?  what do you think?  Pullets?  Olive eggers or did I end up with Marans?  He was pretty certain I would end up with OE, but said it was possible one or both could be Marans.

Those are pullets, but I can't tell what kind of comb they have. The blue/green egg gene is tied to the pea comb gene.

Those look a LOT like mine, which are supposed to be olive eggers also.  Mine don't seem to have pea combs.  But, maybe I'm wrong?

(Mine are supposed to be a mix of wheaten ameraucanas and Bev Davis marans.)

Here's my thread on it...http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/664546/can-you-help-me-figure-out-what-my-chicks-are-lots-of-pics

yesss.gif Woo-hoo for pullets!  I'll try to post a better pic of their combs tomorrow.  They do have a lttle feathering on their legs, although it didn't show very well in the pictures.  And I think they might develope muffs.

Goldfinches, I just read your thread! Yikes! I wouldn't be happy!  Nothing of what you ordered??? he.gif

Still keeping my fingers crossed that these WILL lay olive eggsfl.gif, or at least one will, I'd be okay with one laying green and the other laying dark brown.  BUT, I would really like at least ONE olive egger!!!  I'm hoping my other pullets that have Aracauna mix will lay me some blue eggs and I will have a nice egg basket!

Yea, it was a lot of money, too, since I was ordering purebreds.  I guess I'll just have to wait and see how they turn out...

Yours do seem to have fluffier cheeks than mine do.  The coloring and combs, though, so the same.  Maybe we are just uneducated, since there are apparently many breeders selling chicks like this and calling them olive eggers.

I sure hope you get your color mix.  I have white, blue, pink, salmon, brown and brown spots.  Love the variety.

Here are close up of their combs. I don't know how to tell the difference between a peacomb or anyother comb.  So will these be olive eggers afterall?

they wont lay olive eggs, they both have single combs. hmm.png a pea comb at this age would look flat and bumpy

they both look like pullets though

So will they lay the dark chocolate colored egg since they have a black copper Marans dad?
