Black Copper Marans - Time progression of sexing - UPDATED with WEEKs #1-3 PICTURES

Pics
Here are a few more pics. As you can guess, I got a rainbow 🌈 pack of eggs for variety. The one obvious cockerel of the bunch is mostly hidden in the corner of the last pick….so I’m really hoping for the BCM hybrid to be a pullet. 🤞🏼

To me, this is the obvious cockerel as it has the largest comb, short unshaped tail feathers and is now growing colorful hackle feathers…he also walks differently (taller) than the rest.

Oh this one is definitely a cockerel.

I'd certainly watch this one, but I agree that it isn't as clear as your obvious cockerel. Comb is large for the BCM/Olive Egger pullets I've had and fairly colourful (but that being said, all lines are different). I know sometimes there are pullets that look like late-blooming cockerels at first. Let us know how it goes!

Likely pullet. Update in 2 weeks.
Here are some updated pics… at 6 wks. The comb and wattles are noticeably pinker but the body type and feathers don’t scream “cockerel” to me…. Still holding out hope. 🤞🏼

Actually these 2 are in question for me….I’m assuming the grey one is an olive egger

Hi I’m new!

They gave a mystery chick to my 5yo at a restaurant that had many different chickens, mostly pekin (cochin) bantams, french black copper marans (from France) and isa browns.

The hen with the chicks was a pekin bantam, and chicks were tiny.
But now that s/he is feathering I think at least daddy is a black copper marans.

What do you think, can it be a pekin bantam - bcm hybrid? Also, pullet or roo?

First picture is around 1 week old, other pics are of today, s/he should be around 3.5 to 4 weeks old now.
Its name is Hana/Hans, and we will love it either way. <3

Ty!
