My wife found a newly-hatched chick on the coop floor, mother not really paying attention to her. (I say "her" because I hope we don't go through all this for a cockerel!) Susanna has her in a little shoe box "brooder," with a heat lamp. Chicky is showing a littlr more strength/energy than she did when found. (BTW, apparently some of the other adults pecked on her, she has a little wound. I wish I knew who it was - fricasee, baby!). Susanna is an RN and also very good with the health of our animals, so if Chicky CAN make it, I'm sure she WILL.

My question: Any chance Mother will take an interest in her in maybe a few days? If not, how/when would we go about introducing her to the rest of the flock?

Thanks. She didn't make it. Her wounds were more extensive than I originally realized.
