My silkie hatched her first clutch, It is awesome, but Idk if I should keep the other chickens away from her? give them chick starter? Take them from her? What works best???

yes she and her babies need to be together in a cage, away from other chickens
.feed should be chick starter wich is also healthy for the mom.she will do the rest, she will teach them to eat and drink all you need to do is keep cage and water clean.and food constant.

the chicks started hatching last Tuesday and I have three. There are still about 6 or 7 eggs in there. When should I pull them???

I think one of my brahmas has been laying eggs and the silkie adopting them, because I originally only put 8 in there and the silkie has crushed at least 2 non fertile ones

With both my silkies I kept them away from the other chickens while brooding. After the chicks hatched I sent all of them out with the rest of the flock. The moms tend to keep the chicks away and will attack anyone who gets too close. It takes a day or two for the rest of the flock not to care about the newbies. Moms and chicks are all healthy and completely accepted by the flock. I feel it's the best way IMO!

My chickens are completely free range so they eat bugs and grass with some grower feed I toss out once a day.

I know I'm not the thread starter.. but since this was about silkies, I was wondering - can silkie chicks have treats right away? Like lettuce, mealworm pieces, etc? I just got a trio that's two days old now and I hear treats are the way to their heart... but I've only ever raised turkeys and didn't know if it was too soon for them to have anything besides starter mash? Hope noone minds my asking and thanks if anyone responds :)
