Injured goose!

I have a baby goose who has some serious leg problems. He can't walk on them and when he tries to stand he falls down.. Is there anything I can do for him?

How long has this been going on?
Did you buy or hatch the gosling?
What are you feeding them?
Do you have others showing any of the same symptoms?
How much time outside are they getting?
How are they housed? (bedding, heat source ect)

We had bought two and one actually died... Right now were feeding him chicken scratch food. He was housed outside in a metal pen, but then the one died so we brought him inside.. He is now in a dog crate and on newspaper.. He doesn't even have his feathers yet.. This has been going on ever since we got him and seems to be getting worse.. We do have a lamp for him too.. He is also having trouble breathing occasionaly he gasps for breath.. when we hold him he doesn't do it though..

First thing: GET him off the newspaper. It is slippery and can cause spraddle leg and slipped tendons. Get him on something like wood shavings (not cedar) or straw, even shredded paper is better and will allow him to keep his feet under him.

NEXT: Chick starter ration does not have sufficient Niacin for proper leg development. Find and purchase some Brewers Yeast ASAP and sprinkle a little on his food each time you offer him some. Also, get some grit (or sand) and offer him that along with grass clippings or romaine lettuce daily.

When he was outside, did he have a heat lamp: What was your average night-time temperatures? Do his bill and legs feel hot to you, like he has a fever? If they are more than warm, he may have some sort of respiratory issue and need antibiotics. However, since you say he stops when you hold him, he may be lonely.

Good luck.

Forgot to mention....do his knees look flat or round from behind when his leg is bent? Flat joints indicate slipped tendons.

We also live in Florida the average night temp is around 70. He doesnt seem to have a fever. He tries to stand but cant. I've pressed on his legs. And  he doesnt do anything. So I dont think he is in any pain. Also when he stands and swims he doesnt want to use his right leg.
