Introducing New Chicken - Different Age - Page 2

Well, she's clearly not letting the other ones out. I have been observing them as much as possible. I put food in the run and they practically devoured it.

Is there anything I can do to help the situation or is it best to give the new hen away?

I think you should make two separate side by side pens and have two food and water stations.  I think it is too early to think about giving the new girl away - any time you add a strange chicken, this is likely to happen.  They will get over it in time, hopefully, but you don't want them getting malnourished or sick from hiding all the time.

The new hen turned out to be a rooster. Needless to say, she's (he's) going back.
