Guessing Blondie is a roo. Only by the feather coloring on wing
Mother of 2 boys, wife to a wonderful man who stays at home while I work full time in the veterinary profession.

Sold several of our pullets, could not overwinter 26 additional birds!

I think they both look like pullets...chick number one because her brown/gold feathering is starting to look like a lot of EE pullets people post on the EE braggers thread, and chick number two because that barring looks thick like it does on a barred rock pullet. But who knows?  Can't wait to see another update  :D  I love EEs.

3 Welsummers, 8 Cinnamon Queens, 2 Easter Eggers, 1 barred rock, 1 Blue Wheaten Ameraucana, 1 leghorn/ameraucana cross, 2 RIR and 7 EE/OE chicklets, 6 rabbits, 1 mischievous housecat, one Catahoula bulldog, and one amazing husband to share it all with!  Just call me coop queen!

I tend to agree about the color patterns, I do see quiet a few hens with this coloring and the other just doesn't seem to be getting the coloring in it's wings like a roo would typically go.  I'll post more pictures this weekend when they reach 4 weeks.  Thanks for replying.

Can you get a close up shot of the combs for each?  Male EE combs often look different than the females around 5 weeks.

Oh I had two chicks with that exact coloring, and they both turned out to be roos as adults. My brown and black colored guy turned into a calico roo and my blondie turned into a yellow/red/blue roo. I also had a chick with the brown coloring that turned into a pullet. I would definitely love to see some closeups.

My guess: both roos.

New pics added****

I included a few close ups of the combs, both are same size and nothing at all says roos, both are growing at the same rate and feathering in exactly the same, no reds coming in the feathers so I'm guessing pullets by the coloring and lack of comb developement.

At 5 weeks, the feather color can still have a lot of changes coming, so I'm not good at sexing by feather color only.  I still can't see the combs well enough in your pics, to tell male from female. At this age, for EEs with pea combs, regardless of comb color, a male will usually have three distinct, parallel rows of "peas". By 6 weeks the comb is typically bright pink.  A female at 5-6 weeks usually only has a single ridge of peas down the center of the comb area, and the comb color will be pale.

Unfortunately, I don't have any good pics of my EEs at 5 weeks, but I have some at 8 weeks.

This is a pullet at 8 weeks. Peas are indistinct except for center ridge. Pale, orangey color.

8 wk EE pullet Monkey

Cockerel at 8 wks. Bright raspberry pink with 3 distinct rows of peas.

8 wk EE

Profile shows pink color compared to non EE girlfriends. The female EE's comb is barely visible when in profile.

8 wk EE cockerel

Same boy at 14 wks "helping" with the gardening. He crows too. hmm.png

14 wk EE cockerel RuPaul

Wish I had a pic of a pale comb with the 3 lines of peas. You can often tell just by the comb's shape, before any pink is showing, if you have a cockerel.  You should have a really good idea by next week. I'll be waiting for updates!  pop.gif

My wild guess - Blondie is a girl, Zaxby is a boy.
