The Wonderful World of Dropping Screens!

Hey everyone! Today, I put something into the coop that will change my life :) I have a very small coop, as I only have 3 pullets in that one. They have a waterer, 1 nesting box (one is sick and about to die unfortunately and does not go in at all), and a roost. I just put part of a screen-in porch screen under the whole length of the roost because that's the only place they poop, not even when they lay in the box! So, all I'll do is take out the screen and clean that and maybe once every other month i'll clean out the whole coop. I am so excited about it! Tell me all about your attempts to keep your coop clean.

That's a great idea! What I decided to do was to add a sand box under my bantams roost. It works good. Sand coats the poopy and it's real easy to clean out.

I have 18 chickens, one kitten, 3 dogs, 2 hermit crabs, and live on 20 acres in the country. I am CrAzY about chickens and plan on getting more! I am continually working to better my chicken practices and to better my flocks.

That's a brilliant idea! I would, but my roost isn't tall at all, neither is the coop itself. Thanks for replying!

Great idea but do they withstand the weight of poop? That is if you were gone for the weekend or a week long sickness?

A frame of heavy duty wire fly screen would be more suitable in case the chicken decided to  land on it or sleep on the screens.

The have walked all over it, as i checked to make sure it'd work, and it didn't move much at all!

Ah sorry I'll try to get pics up there soon! I've been so far behind!

Quick question though, what should I do, my chicken pecked my eyeball....
