Wedding shower for an old woman. - Page 3

The shower will be at the end of October, which is USUALLY still nice weather here (It changes on Halloween without fail), and we are going with a Country Garden theme, so far anyways.  Ms. Clucks, one thing on our registry will be a toaster oven so he can still cook the crap he likes (pizza, corn dogs, tacquitos, etc.) for lunch.  Also a counter top griddle and a new toaster.  I have a crockpot that is the perfect size for the two of us.

My best friend, who is doing the shower, would go for pizza ok, but she would make it, and make many different kinds, because that is how she is.  And that to me sounds like a lot more work than croissant sandwiches, chinese chicken salad and fruit salad.  Oh she would do more than that, but I think pizza would be difficult for her.  She is NOT a call Dominoes kind of a gal.

Maybe you could list things that will help make both of your new lives run smoother.  Like a couple of size of easy wash crockpots for cooking meals things you can start before work and he can eat for lunch in smaller crocks and bigger ones for dinner for  two. Or waffle a maker. Or a counter top grill, I have one that opens flat as a griddle too  Or rice makers etc.

And maybe rather than normal recipes, what about asking for crock pot or rice cooker meals.

Or ask for interesting sauces, glazes etc things that will spice up what might have been a more bland meal due to the difference in cooking methods

Of course a camp/patio propane grill would be good too

I wanted to tell you that natural gas stoves is the number one complaint amongst people with emphysema.  I was really surprised by that, but apparently the gas really does suck oxygen out of the room and make breathing more difficult.  So needless to say, I don't cook much unless it's quick, I can open the doors and he has his air on.

Be careful Deb!

I am dealing with a rental that has 2 units burnt out by smoking while using oxygen.  But wonder if the pilot lights could set it off too.

I have done pizza parties here, where I made a variety of pizza doughs (seasoned) and a variety of toppings and let the guests make their own mini pizza's  It was fun.

That does sound like fun!  No one smokes in the house anymore AT ALL!  Not allowed.

what about kabobs, people make up their own... all that's required is cutting stuff up, cook as you go!

I like that idea too.

Maybe rather than having people handle all the food, some mini menus with a checklist of picks for a kabob might be fun too

I love all the ideas, and I am going to show this thread to her and see what she thinks about the suggestions.
