Ok so we've not got our little beauties yet ( and i've explained more on our background etc in the newbie section ) but I thought id share the progress on our chicken house. Our 6 lovely ex batt hens shall be with us a week on saturday

This is the shop bought house we invested in

Chicken Coop.jpg

This is the space that were building aroung this for the girls to have a good run

The main timber structure is up , and ready for the mesh and gate to be made

The bamboo screening one for prettiness , and two to keep my nosey neigh bour out lol (bob taking a look our bullmastiff)

Obviously we've still got a way to go - but were getting there. The tiny patch of grass is to be flagged , the big patch of mus is going to be dug up and re layed ina secure setting as to not get all over - with a roof over the top.

The actual house will go in the far left corner - were going to put up different levels , and peches etc - along with toys to keep the girls occupied.

Were also allowing the girls to roam the rest of the garden , by our watch only so will have even more space. Were also going to put flowers outside the enclosure and lights to make it look all pretty too.

Shall share images with each progression - if anyone has any advice tips etc then please feel free to share.

Thanks

Kate

Hello and welcome to BYC!  I am new to chicken-ing too!  We bought the same "shop house" for our chickens...2 RIR's and 2 CuckooMarans (Our chicks are sitting ontop of the coop roof in my pic to the left.)  We cut an opening in the backside of the  fencing and connected a run for them to have more room.  Its a small run right now, but we are going to increase its size soon.  I like the pull out poop tray, makes it easy for me to clean it our everyday......(not such a bad job).  Have fun!  ~Beulah  D.gif

I just wanted to say that we did add more locks on the doors and egg box for better security from predators.

Click on my profile and there should be more pics of our coop.

Looks like my back Garden when I lived in Harrogate.

I like your coop, nice small and easy to move and probably easy to repair. I started to build mine and I have

to build it strong enough to stand up to hurricanes. Likely the chickens will have to evacuate into our house. What a mess to build!
