Went out to the coop & found this rat snake tangled up in the Hot Wire. Sorry Charlie.Snake & Hot Wire 001.JPG

I'm out of eggs. But I know where some brown ones are. I now raise big Ol' Honkin' Bob Whites & Layed back Coturnix. Pray For Rain In Texas!

Poor feller, but at least ya know it really does work.

Was a pretty snake by the way

CMV, them snakes do get big but they are great roadent control, just gota protect little chicks and eggs but anything could get them if they are not protected in the first place.

You can keep your super-sized snakes.  I could use some rodent control, but a snake that size ever snuck up on me and I'd have a heart attack on the spot.  I am not afaid of snakes, but the snakes we have get only about a foot to a foot-and-a-half long.  A monster that size would startle me into the next life.

That was my first coop all my other coops are snake proof. Your right its kinda scary finding a five footer inside the coop here's one that ate a fake egg.snake in coop 004.JPG

Half inch hardware cloth & an apron around the coop & run. It's expensive but nothing can get in your coop. Unless, you live where there are bears. Someone here on BYC said coons can rip through the cloth but I kinda doubt it. Let me just say I've never had one get in my coops & I have 7. There's plenty of coons here on my farm.
