We have had a hen brooding for several weeks and never expected anything to happen. However, we just checked on her and heard cheeping and saw several beeks pop out of her feathers! Should we leave them alone or seperate the chicks and put them under a warming lamp. We have raised baby chicks, but not fresh from momma hen! Help!!!!!

I would probably recommend letting mama do her job. Just keep an eye out and make sure she doesn't abandon them or allow other chickens to pick on them.

Do nothing. Mama hen knows what she's doing much better than we do. You'll be shocked at how much healthier and robust the chicks will be than when we brood them.

We keep her and the rooster together, in a different coop than the laying hens. Should we isolate mom and chicks from the rooster? Will it bother mom to move her to see how many chicks there are? My daughter is dying to see how many. We found one chick dead and an unhatched egg in the corner. This part is new to us. My daughter says we now have "home made" chickens!
